What are forum ranks? Well in a nutshell, they're something and nothing at the same time. What I mean is, they're titles associated with the number of "useful" or "helpful" posts that are placed on the forum. Its like gaining experience, in game, but on the forums :D. As you level up, you'll get a title that will appropriately represent how active you are on the forums. 
 
The forums are for others to share their thoughts and opinions in and out the game. What's not acceptable in guild chat and TeamSpeak 3 also applies to the forums. This includes no sexism, racism, and prejudice against homosexuals in any shape or form. 
 
It is not required to use the forums but I encourage everyone to check them out, especially to see Killer's GW2 contest entry! :D

Forum ranks have been added! What are forum ranks? Well in a nutshell, they're something and nothing at the same time.
